TECHNICAL CONVENTION
The Centro Cinofilo Reggiano was the venue of the first technical convention organised by D.A.C.I. on June 13, 2009. The title was “Target Health”. Various specialists in the veterinary field took part. We remember them in the order in which they spoke: Prof. Arcelli, Dr. Palladini, Dr. Birettoni, Dr. Spina.
The business of the convention got underway after the welcomes and thanks to the attendees from our chairman with the talk by Prof. Arcelli. The theme of his intervention was the issue of deafness in dog breeds and, in particular, our breed. His contribution was amply backed by filmed material.
Afterwards Dr. Palladini presented his talk on one of the most topical problems "hip dysplasia", and showed the attendees a full video and photograph program. Dr. Palladini’s lecturewas received as a springboard for discussion by those present and with their active participation embarked on an interesting debate.
When Dr. Birettoni spoke when the convention was in full spate he illustrated the “ Ereditos” project. This a non-profit making institution that came into being at the same time as the Italian Veterinary Association for Small Animals with the aim of :
- safeguarding the well-being of comfort animals subjected to genetic pressure
- providing guidelines with organisational and scientific support
- creating a relationship between breeder and vet.
The players in the field participating in this project are Veterinarians, Dog Clubs and Breed Clubs.
Dr.Spina’s talk wound up the convention. He tackled the problem of cardiological pathologies to which the Dogo is subject underlining how important it is to have the dogs checked up.
The convention that began in the afternoon at 02 p.m. went on until well after 05 p.m. It was held in an atmosphere of satisfaction on the part of both those speaking and the D.A.C.I. management that was the promoter of this first technical convention.
